Married

One of the things I rarely think about is marriage. But I've been sitting at the computer for the last few hours helping a friend with her wedding program. She's getting married tomorrow.

I think when my Dad passed away, one of my biggest sorrows was knowing he would never see the grandchildren he so wanted. Although I'm not an only child, I am my father's only child. Blood of his blood. He loved his other grandchildren given to him by his stepsons. He spoiled them, ate their vegetables so they wouldn't get in trouble, and snuck them cookies when their mom's weren't looking. But he waited for the day when he could hold my child in his arms.

So knowing that my kids would never personally know their grandfather, along with the knowledge that my Dad would never meet my husband, those were tough things to swallow for me.

I'd have to say, I've not ever really given marriage a lot of thought. My mind was always busy elsewhere. Planning, doing, thinking. To be honest it is much the same now. I would like to be married, I always wanted a whole bunch of kids, but....well, I'm neither.

But every once in a while, I do think about it. And I wonder if I'll ever know what it is like.

Anthropologie inspired Bedding DIY

I adore 99.99% of Anthropologie. I could live in that store! Unfortunately, not everything I want is what my budget can afford. Eeek.... But when I can, I shop Anthro. Love, love, love Anthropologie.

Lately I've been itching to do something with my bedding. Maybe my whole bedroom, but starting with the bed. So here is where I currently am.

I liked it but I'm ready for a change.

On a budget, change on a budget. None of these gorgeous Anthro bedding ensembles for me....(but aren't they beautiful?)

Or this lovely grey.

But hey, I'm adventurous. So I thought, with all the DIY inspiration we see on Pinterest, why didn't I give my bedding an Anthropologie inspired makeover? One of my favorite places to shop is TJ Maxx. In my former Interior Designer life, I worked with people who wanted to update or remodel their spaces but didn't have a high-end budget, and TJ Maxx can be very affordable.

I found a simple grey quilt, $29.99, a grey queen sheet set, $24.99, a full sized white with grey scrolly-kind of print for $16.99 and two grey standard pillow cases for $9.99.

It is my idea to make the quilt into a duvet cover using part of the sheet set and to design some kind of bedskirt using a mix and match of both sheet sets. And hopefully I have some material left over to make some throw pillow covers.

Hmmmm......

We shall see! Stay tuned, I'm diving in!
